I have other sheep which are not of this fold
by Wayward Son injohn 10:16 - and i have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those also i must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.. setting: jesus was talking to a blind man he had recently cured and the pharisees were listening in.
it sounds like he had a larger audience that likely included his apostles.so, who is "this fold" he was referring to and who are the "other sheep"?according to wts doctrine, the heavenly calling (covenant) had not been instituted yet.
we don't hear about that until the last supper.

My thoughts on this years Special assembly day
by stillstuckcruz inopening comments: so this past weekend was out special assembly, so obviously supplied by jehovah.
we also had the "privelege" of having a gb representative at our assembly hall.
3/4 were young and my guess would be that those were born-ins.

Thankfully I had parking duty(ironic huh?) so I had the opportunity to walk around a bit and miss portions of a few talks.
That's the beauty of the parking detail, guaranteed time to shoot the breeze. I remember when I first started lurking and even when I posted here, when there'd be an assembly, I'd furiously take notes to share it here and also to examine for myself just to see how much of it was nonsense and propoganda. Nowadays, I go to the assembly, and if whatever duties I'm scheduled on are in the morning, I skip out during the lunch break. I don't know when our special day assembly is, but all I really want to hear is the anti-education talk, and after that I'll probably leave. Only reason I go is to handle whatever assignment and to show face so nobody is saying later to me, "I didn't see you there George, where you there?" "Why yes Mildred, I was there, this one was the best one yet! They just keep getting better and better!"
-He then went on to bash education. He said that "people go to college to have more material things later" and who "look down on less educated ones". I found it ironic when he mentioned that "many young people left the 'truth' because of higher education". Go figure huh?
Mr.Losch and his cronies are becoming increasingly concerned with their lifestyle being jeopardized with the loss of too many young people. They can't stop what's coming though, that's vanity.

I Want Your Prediction: Who Will Be The Republican Nominee & Will He Beat Obama?
by minimus ini think romney will be the guy but i have my doubts that he will beat obama because no one seems to be in the lineup that anyone wants to embrace..

Unless something drastic happens the Republican party is on its way to an epic fail. People are worried about jobs, spending, taxes, economic policy, the instability of other governments, the Eurozone mess etc. The Republican candidates are yelling about contraceptives, abortions, gays getting married, and a bunch of other social issues.
I think the epic fail may, in the long run, be good for the party. They may get forced back to real conservative issues; international relations, fiscal responsibility and the like.
For their part the Democrats run the risk of mistaking an Obama victory over a weak challanger as endoresement for a leftist agenda.
JeffT's prediction: no winner and two losers, our political system and the American people.
Well put.

I don't like "taking the lead"
by I Want to Believe insome men probably got off on the power/ego trip being a male jw gets you, but i never cared for it.
i'm an introvert, and was an especially awkward one at that haveing been reaised in social isolation, so it was about the strangest feeling in the world when as a newly-baptized teenager (back in the day) i started to pioneer.
i was about as green as you could get in every way but i was told i had to take the lead in the service meetings and the car group.

…not to mentioned mature sisters. I felt like a fraud and an idiot. I never had a thirst for desire or prominence. I felt that many congregation tasks could be easily done by sisters.
Yeah, this too, I was trying to word it but couldn't quite put it together, but this is exactly how I feel at times.

Man you have no idea how much I can relate to your post. March is going to be a particulary tough month with this Dirty Thirty auxilliary pioneer thing. They made an announcement last Thursday in relation to this special month of activity that on Sundays the publishers should see their field service overseers after the meeting for field service arrangemenst. I thought to myself, "great, just what I need. Have to take the lead holding the hands of other adults and peddle mediocre literature to an apathetic public."
It's funny because people in our congregation might view me as being confident, meanwhile I've more self doubt than OJ Simpson during the civil trial. It's a lotta pressure at times, and in the midst of handling it is not big deal, but the period of time when gathering the courage to actually take the lead in Theocratic matters is where I think one day I'll have a heart attack. My anxiety spikes when thinking about taking the lead in service, or hearing my name during the announcements as being one of the brothers with a part during the Service Meeting. I just absolutely hate that kind of attention. You know, I might have signed up to do the Dirty Thirty had it not been anounced that they were going to read off the names of all who are doing it, but I just hate that kind of attention, although the fact that I'm doing it may bring unwanted attention too.
). Out in car groups, pioneers would hand me their territory cards and ask "How do you want to do this?" I had no idea, it was their territory! Then there were those who would just lay out everything we should do but then add, looking at me, "Does that sound good?" It was very odd, like I'd been put in charge of a company after applying for the mailroom.
I hear ya! At times when I take the group out, if another brother or sister has territory, I'll ask them flat out how they want it handled because they might be out during the week when I'm work, so maybe they have a certain method to their madness and I'll gladly oblige. Besides I view it like we're all adults, there shouldn't be any so called "taking the lead." So long as it's not completely unorganized I don't see anything wrong with stepping back a bit.
